Zuko looked out of his glistening bedroom window. Dawn was approaching and the sunlight had just begun to warm his tranquil face. “It was all for this”, he thought to himself. As he turned round and looked towards his peacefully sleeping wife he took a deep breath and sighed. The war had been over for almost ten years and the only traces of the previous Firelord was the scar on his face. Time had moved on, the world had moved on; he had moved on. As the sun began to rise over the beautiful hills that surrounded them Zuko walked over to the bed where the silhouette of his wife lay. She was so different to him, her loving personality, charismatic arrogance, her true heart. He wondered what he had done to deserve her. Slowly he sat down and kissed her forehead tenderly. She smiled and stirred revealing the bump that contained their child.  Her long hair flowing over the pillow like pure woven silk, her skin olive brown compared to his pale white, her warmth. Before him lay everything that he had ever wanted or needed. She filled the space in his heart that had been empty for so long and made him feel whole again. “I love you”, he whispered quietly so that only the two of them could hear. Her eyes opened revealing two deep pools of sapphire blue affection. “I love you too,” she whispered back.
